Almaty, Kazakhstan. Freedom Bank in Kazakhstan has implemented Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its business services. Within its super app, the bank has launched a voice-based AI assistant that performs financial operations on behalf of entrepreneurs.
Thanks to this innovation, businesses have gained access to a new level of automation. Now, routine banking tasks can simply be voiced to the AI assistant, saving time on repetitive actions. The intelligent assistant automatically pays taxes, processes payroll, executes account-to-account transfers, deposits and withdraws funds, pays fines, and much more.
In total, the AI assistant performs around 119 different commands, freeing entrepreneurs from manual input and saving time on banking operations. To implement this project, Freedom Bank digitised its key business processes using artificial intelligence technology. The bank has also provided all entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan with free access to the GPT-5 chat.
This is not Freedom Bank’s first experience in integrating generative intelligence into its processes. Currently, the bank uses AI for compliance checks. AI compliance enables deep analysis of client transactions, identification of hidden patterns, and prevention of regulatory circumvention. The system automatically processes data within minutes, cross-referencing external and internal sources. This reduces employee workload and increases the accuracy of risk detection and assessment.
How can the implementation of AI support the company’s entry into the EU and other European markets? AI enables the automation of key processes and the creation of scalable, efficient solutions that can be adapted for multiple jurisdictions. Advanced AI agents can quickly analyse market regulations, compliance frameworks, GDPR requirements, supervisory expectations, and evolving consumer needs. This allows technology to be rapidly tailored to local conditions while testing numerous strategic hypotheses with speed and precision.
AI can also be embedded directly into customer-facing products, acting as an intelligent assistant that recommends and targets the most appropriate services in real time. Together, these capabilities significantly reduce client acquisition costs and, with the required licensing in place, position Freedom Holding Corp. to swiftly introduce financial and other services across new European markets.
In the future, we may introduce our most advanced solutions to European markets. Our priority is not only to implement cutting-edge technologies, but also to deliver tangible value through high-quality products and reliable service. While expansion will depend on prevailing market conditions, AI technologies provide a decisive advantage: they enable the launch of a digital bank with significantly lower operating costs and far more precise, data-driven coverage of market opportunities.
Among the bank’s advanced innovations is its own investment currency — Freedom, accrued in ETN (Exchange Traded Notes). This is a unique form of cashback that allows customers to receive a share of Freedom Holding Corp. stock, listed on NASDAQ, for every purchase made. As a result, every bank client becomes an investor who earns from the growth of the company’s stock value on the exchange. Over the past year, the number of such clients has exceeded 3 million. During the same period, the FRHC share price increased 2.5 times, from $67 to $170. That means if a client initially received 20,000 ETN at the rate of 1 ETN = $0.0067, the value of their assets amounted to $134; today, considering the growth of 1 ETN to $0.017, the amount has reached $340.
By using such tools, Freedom Bank helps customers shift from consumer-oriented behaviour toward saving and investing, fostering a culture of financial literacy.
It is worth noting that Freedom Bank has become one of the leaders in digital transformation in Central Asia. The bank introduced digital mortgage lending, the first product in the region where the entire process, from application to property registration, takes place online. In the first seven months since its launch, Freedom Bank captured 62% of the market under the state mortgage program. Later, the bank introduced digital car loans and online business loans, reducing the processing period from 30 days to 1 day. Such projects became possible due to the development of the GovTech sector in Kazakhstan, which ranks 28th among 193 countries in the UN Global E-Government Development Index.
The bank focuses not only on technological development but also strives to provide its clients with customised solutions. For example, SuperCard payment cards come in various designs featuring themes and characters from the DC Universe, Rick and Morty, Naruto, The Lord of the Rings, and Game of Thrones. To use these images, the bank entered into licensing agreements with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products and TV Tokyo. Recently, the bank also announced cards featuring the world-famous singer Dimash Kudaibergen.
